Lazy days on the lake

Days on the lake would drift into each other...

 

The kids spent them swimming...

For what seemed like hours...

... And Mike and I would break from work to hike in the woods or canoe out on the water.

Blueberry muffins were baked and the kids and their friends built fairy houses by the water.

 

It should have been very peaceful... The kids had many adventures in Maine, and we had many challenges. Including problems with plumbing, and the septic.

One day we set out for groceries only to have our road back blocked off for hours. A house up the street had caught on fire and ammunition in the house was going off, making the whole area dangerous.  We sat at the gas station and watched our frozen grocery items thaw out in the hot car.

Still there's something very calming about life on the water.
