Our beautiful girl

“There is no point treating a depressed person as though she were just feeling sad, saying, 'There now, hang on, you'll get over it.' Sadness is more or less like a head cold- with patience, it passes. Depression is like cancer.”

― Barbara Kingsolver, The Bean Trees

My daughter is depressed. She is clinically depressed and it's a hidden pain, in the heart of our whole family. She goes to a psychiatrist, she takes medication, she sees a therapist and today in a puddle of tears she asked if she could go to a hospital.  A hospital? Can we afford that? Are there services? Financially we barely made it through the week.

Every school year I desperately hope will be better this time. Every day I hope she'll be "ok".  Usually the answer is no. How will we save our beautiful girl?
