A hot sticky August and the final days of our Kickstarter
So we are down to the last six days of our Kickstarter for our children's book!
We have somehow managed to get $609 in pre orders for "The Elephant and The Teapot are Friends", but Kickstarter is NOT a GoFund me. If you don't reach your goal you get nothing and all pledges are cancelled! So now is the time to hustle even more!
Even if we don't make our goal I am proud of what we accomplished. I managed to get our press release carried by 293 news outlets and blogs. I managed to arrange an anonymous sponsor who is matching every pre order of the book and sending the copies to THE CHILDREN'S BOOK PROJECT. Which is a remarkable organization in the Bay Area, that provides books for SO many kids. Anyway, just under $300 more to reach our goal!
In the mean time summer in this city continues to boil us with heat and humidity. Each night we've been walking five miles to feed a mama cat and her kittens we found living at a car dealership over the bridge. When we first found her in May it wasn't THAT hot yet, but someone else was feeding them too and slowly taking the kittens away.
We kept walking over getting drenched in sweat in the night as we walked and realized the mother cat, (who was left behind) was pregnant again. Since we show up every night, now she trusts us, but we don't know where the new babies are. Each night we race to get there to feed her before the rains. So many nights we have come home soaked from getting caught in the storms. Hopefully, soon we will be able to rescue her, but until then we will continue our nightly trek.
My mask shop is taking early orders for Halloween, please consider taking a look! Here are some recent masks I made:
