Second Summer
Well, school has ended again and now we're drifting through our second summer (for us ) this year. Chloe graduated elementary school and we went to a very hot ceremony at the school near the end of July.
Her certificate for hitting this milestone is nicer than my high school diploma (not to mention my BFA certificate).
Our first weekend of summer we headed out to Imperial Beach to take a look at the big sandcastle competition.
This is "The Sea of Tranquility"
This one appears to be a hermit crab.
I've often thought it would be fun to enter a sand or ice sculpting event, but then I think about working in the heat with the sun beating down on me or in the cold icy wind and I realize I'm just not an "extreme" sculptor.
The first week of vacation, Mike and I spent working a booth at Comic Con International. Selling our books and comics and promoting our web comics. There were 100,000 people there (or something like that, the point is VERY CROWDED). This is the Convention Center from above...
Us in our booth...
Many people show up in interesting costumes and we had a great time chatting with Michelle Nichols of Star Trek....
To keep the kids busy we've been participating a lot in library programs. Naomi even had her face painted at one event...
The kids won six Padres tickets through their summer reading program at the library so last weekend we headed to the game against the Mets...
Here's the girls at the stadium....
This week has been a busy one with my brother-in-law's 40th birthday and a beach party for Chloe's eleventh birthday.
Here I am trying my new henna tattoo kit on one of the girls.
Phoebe and a friend...
And Chloe enjoying the party!
Just another 3 weeks and they're back in school, but who's counting! :)
